Donald Rothberg is a leading teacher and writer on meditation, the intersection of psychology and spirituality, and socially engaged spiritual practice. He has taught and practiced Buddhist meditation for over 35 years, and his teaching and trainings have helped to pioneer new ways of connecting inner and outer transformation.  He is a member of the Teacher's Council at Spirit Rock Center and the author of The Engaged Spiritual Life: A Buddhist Approach to Transforming Ourselves and the World.

News! I'll teach upcoming daylongs on Cultivating Wise Speech: Becoming More Skillful in Your Speech Practice on June 28 in Sacramento; The Second Foundation of Mindfulness—Transforming the Roots of Reactivity on July 19 in Nevada City; and The “Thinning” of the Self: Exploring and Practicing Anattā (“Not-Self”) on September 5 at Spirit Rock.

I'm also looking forward to teaching several retreats, from July to September, on Transforming the Judgmental Mind (at Cloud Mountain north of Portland, Oregon, with Heather Sundberg, July 31-August 7; in Albuquerque, August 21-23; and at Spirit Rock September 14-20, with Heather Sundberg).

I'll also be teaching retreats on another of my loves, Mindful Communication and Wise Speech, with Oren Sofer (July 2-8, in Berkeley, a non-residential retreat, 9 to 5 each day for a week!; and August 25-30, at Vallecitos, near Taos, New Mexico).

I also look forward to teaching, for the first time at Spirit Rock, with Teja Bell and Susie Harringon, a 6-day retreat (June 15-21) on From the Breath to Spacious Awareness, combining concentration practice; insight practice related to the three characteristics of impermanence, suffering, and not-self; and open and spacious awareness, inspired by the Thai Forest tradition and other Buddhist traditions.

Details for all of these events are on the "Schedule" page.
